E3: Chrono Trigger DS controls and tid bits

July 16th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in DS, News | By: Kevin

At E3, there was a playable version of Chrono Trigger for the DS. The control scheme remained the same as it was for the SNES and if people do not feel like using the button layout, they are free to use the touch screen. The touchscreen controls are simple. If your stylus is touching the right of the screen, Crono moves to the right. The further your stylus is, the greater the movement. Using the touchscreen during a battle is pretty simple too, touch a command on the menu. In other CT news, the translation for the DS port will be brand-spanking-new.

Looks like Chrono Trigger will be part of the old school wave this year.

Hey there Chrono fans and JRPG fans. This is probably one of the biggest news for RPG players this year. Chrono Trigger is being released for the DS some time this holiday season in North America. The DS port utilizes the DS’s touch screen. Don’t worry, there’s some extra goodies (such as a new dungeon and a multiplayer function). A JRPG classic with new content… and for some strange reason, wireless multiplayer battles. Fans may enjoy exploring the new dungeon while people who never got the chance to play Chrono Trigger will experience its magic. The time is ticking.

June 22nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in 360, News, PS2, PS3, Wii | By: Mel

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which also happens to be their 1000th issue (congrats guys) they have a feature article which talks about the new classics from the last 25 years. Journalists Geoff Keighley, Wook Kim and Gary Eng Walk compiled a list of the top 50 games from the last 25 years. ew.jpg

A few of the most notable titles of the list include Tetris (#1), Grand Theft Auto IV (#9), Metal Gear Solid (#10) & Gears of War (#20). You can view the list in its entirety after the jump.

Do you agree with the list? Also what are some games that you think were worthy enough to be in your top games of the last 25 years? Gaming as a whole has helped shape the world in many ways, so it’s always good to see it held up in a great light like this.

1. Tetris (PC)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
3. Doom (PC)
4. Super Mario World (SNES)
5. Guitar Hero (PS2)
6. Street Fighter II (SNES)
7. Super Mario Kart (SNES)
8. GoldenEye 007 (N64)
9. Grand Theft Auto IV (X360/PS3)
10. Metal Gear Solid (PS)
