Last years summer blockbuster for the PS3, “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patiots” is now part of the “Greatest Hits” collection. But the problem here is that it doesn’t add anything new to the game at all, except a red box.
My point is that every past Metal Gear game has been rehashed with loads of new content in its newly titled, “MGS: Sub-…”, so why hasn’t this been done with the latest entry? It has been a year now and it definitely seems like a waste of production to keep shipping the original game when they really can (and should…) create an expanded version of it. Who wouldn’t want a “Raiden Tales”-esque feature like in Substance? Since he is now a bad ass everybody wants to play as him. I personally want the VR Missions because those were always a blast to play. There is so much content the team could add from side stories to boss battles but apparently just aren’t doing it.

Lastly, the idea of a “Sub-…” version of MGS4 makes even more sense with the loads of complaints of more cut scenes over game play. It seems like common sense, so why hasn’t Kojima Productions jumped on this yet?

The cut scenes are soooo long because they are slower paced than shitting with constipation. Someone on a reveiw I read last year very accurately described them…..He or she said, paraphrased, “the cutscenes are essentially Hideo Kojima’s loooooong slooooow wank”. Very accurate indeed. I mean if Snake drops his ciggy, it takes him a good 10 seconds to pick it up. A grunt is a year long. A conversation lasts just over an eternity. They could have sped the scenes up and they would have cut the time by over half.
Umm who wrote this? All a greatest hit or platium title is nothing more than them re-releasing the game at a lower price. Why on earth would you expect new content, MGS2 didn’t have new content when it became a platium title, did it now?
Because in this gen downloadable content is the way to go. there’s a boatload of dlc for metal gear online.
A sub version with all the MGO extra content wouldn’t hurt to be honest. And trophies…
I don’t think anyone should talk about mGS4 until (if ever) it’s gets trophies. Until then let this game die already.
I disagree with that since all of the people who just purchased a PS3 need to buy this game on day 1…
Infamous, MGS4, Uncharted, Killzone 2 and….yeah…
uhh…AJ, i know what a greatest hits release is….im saying they shoulda just released a substance/subsistence version of it instead
You do know that its Sony not Konami who release the Greatest Hits version’s of games?
To be honest the only reason I haven’t picked up MGS4 is because everytime I got one they ended up bringing out a substance version with extra’s out later so I figured I would wait until they did that and added trophies to it. I hope I haven’t waited for nothing, because I hate the Red Greatest Hit’s boxes for the PS3. There just so Ugly.
There will not be any MGS4:Subsomething… MGS4 by itself almost maxed out a 50GB blu-ray disc… Is there space for anything more? You’d probably have to wait til PS3 games start appearing on 200GB discs… Although they could simply re-use assets for some snake-tales stuff… But in any case, you’re living in the age of DLC… it’s be more convenient for them to just offer extras as a download for cheaper.
And the only reason the MGS4 cutscenes were really long is actually because of those who complained that they didn’t like how they interrupted gameplay too frequently, so basically Kojima grouped more information together into longer cutscenes leaving more time for actual gameplay length between cutscenes.
