Today’s Ubisoft E3 Conference: Beautiful

Ubisoft brought the pain on other third party developers today when they announced blockbuster titles one after another at their E3 Press Conference with the help of The Soup’s Joel McHale as its noble, and quite humorous, host. The biggest announcements of the conference included the announcement that Red Steel 2, which by the way looks much better than its predecessor and much more precise, would come bundled with Wii Motion Plus, the November 17th release date of Assassin’s Creed 2 along with a new CG trailer (which featured, wait for it, a gun), UPlay, a new interactive experience for Ubisoft titles using the HYBRIDE software engine, that will allow players to interact in various ways, the most interesting of which is providing walkthroughs for other players.

Splinter Cell Conviction easily stole the show as far as triple A titles go, graphically the game is intense in game. Story telling techniques aren’t as cut and dry as cutscenes any longer, which you’ll see in the videos following this post. Rabbids Go Home, while slightly childish in its slapstick humor is amazingly entertaining, featuring some really entertaining moments such as having one of the bunnies inside a Wii remote where you can mess with him according to your button presses. It is, essentially, Raving Rabbids meets Katamari Damacy meets a brawler. Videos will up soon so you can all witness it for yourselves.

Your Shape, a personal fitness game, proves that Ubisoft knows what they’re doing as far as 3rd party Wii titles. They understand what they need to do to sell games on the Wii, by smartly bundling Your Shape with their new camera for the Wii. Their Tween games line up for the Nintendo DS, while unappealing to the hardcore crowd as the Nintendo systems are known for this generation, bring to the table a long list of titles with some pretty innovative features.

Not to mention, the conference was pretty heavy in guest appearances. Acclaimed film director James Cameron took the stage to talk about Ubisoft’s 3D game adaptation of his new film Avatar and soccer legend Pele came out and talked about his new Wii game’s importance on children’s education of the sport .

We’ll be posting our blog of the conference, which we wrote as we watched the conference , along with some videos and images of the show, later tonight! Us Broke Gamers did our absolute best to bring you guys a ton of coverage so we hope you enjoy it!
